The source of fruit for Patrice Winery's 2002 vintage of Chardonnay is from New York's North Fork of Long Island appellation. This is one of the premier sources of grapes for North America. The Long Island appelation is known for it's Terroir that resembles that of the Bordeaux Region of France.
The 2002 vintage offers an exceptional, earthy, barrel aged Chardonnay. One third of the Chardonnay is barrel fermented while the balance is fermented cold in stainless steel tanks and is transferred to barrels after fermentation. This Malolactic Chardonnay is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels and stainless steel. This wine goes well with both fish, chicken and red meat. Try it also with spicy foods and barbecue.
This Chardonnay balances great ripe golden delicious apple taste with a hint of citrus. In order to insure best flavors, the grapes were pressed immediately at the winery and were fed into stainless steel tanks for cold fermentation. Also much of the wine was barrelled fermented to add vanilla and buttery caramel characteristics to the wine.
